Why is Jack Wilshere playing today?

Stay safe, the lad.
Stay safe, the lad.

[Ed. note: things are going fair-to-middling at best outside of football today. Inside football, Arsenal are fighting for their last shot at a trophy, the reserves lost to gosh-danged Wigan, and England are silly. To wit:]

England are silly.  Seeing this in one's boss' twitter feed confirms this.  Yes, Graham, we are angry:

England: Hart; Baines, Cahill, Jagielka, Johnson; Barry, Milner, Wilshere; Downing, Carroll, Young. Villa/Arsenal fans should be angryless than a minute ago via TweetDeck

Jack Wilshere played football three days ago, and played well. That match mattered.  Today's match against Ghana is nothing but a pretext to making cash for the FAs of both nations.  Yes, yes, I understand; making cash is the motor of our great society and all of the nice things we have both as football fans and as humans blah blah blah.  Look, I've read Kapital.  I get it.

Today, though, I'm feeling downright zero-growth about things, because so help me, if England damages Jack Wilshere, I will punch it in the throat, which as near as I can tell is somewhere just west of Sheffield.
