Arsenal loan Kyle Bartley to Rangers, Gilles Sunu to Lorient

Arsenal have loaned youth defender Kyle Bartley to Scottish Premier League club Rangers and forward Gilles Sunu to Ligue 1 club Lorient for the remainder of the season, according to the club's official website.  The news is the only transfer news the club has confirmed today on the last day of the transfer window.

Rangers currently sit five points behind league leaders Celtic, albeit with two games in hand.  There was a little bit of twitter speculation that Algerian international central defender Madjid Bougherra would come the other way as part of the deal, but that was never official in any capacity.

Lorient sit twelfth in France's Ligue 1 at the moment.  Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin is already on loan there as part of the deal that brought Laurent Koscielny to the Emirates in the summer.

Although Arsenal do not appear to have signed any new players during the January window, a growing injury list may necessitate some recalls of players out on loan currently, according to Arsène Wenger.  Likely candidates would be Jay Emmanuel-Thomas or Henri Lansbury.  With Arsenal still involved in all four competitions and muscular injuries starting to set in, having deep squads in key spots may prove necessary.
