So far this preseason, a total of five Arsenal players have gone out on loan to other clubs. Here is a look at the players and their current teams:
Kyle Bartley - CB - Sheffield United: Bartley, who played in the Champions League match at Olympiakos last winter, has rejoined Sheffield United, where he spent three months on loan last year. Sheffield United currently play in the Coca-Cola NPower Championship and regularly contend for promotion to the Premier League. Barltey believes that increased playing time at Sheffield will make him more visible to England U21 coach Stuart Pearce.
Francis Coquelin - DM/RB - Lorient: Coquelin, who featured in two first team matches last year, will spend the season on loan at Ligue 1 side Lorient as part of the Laurent Koscielny transfer. Lorient finished in seventh place in Ligue 1 in 2009-10, after finishing 14th, 10th, and 10th the three seasons prior.
Luke Freeman - FW - Yeovil Town: Freeman, who moved from Gillingham to Arsenal as a highly-touted 15-year old in 2008, is on loan until December at League One side Yeovil. So far, so good: the quick striker scored the winner in Yeovil's 2-1 victory over Leyton Orient in the season opener (footage here).
Sanchez Watt - FW - Leeds United: Watt has returned for another spell at Championship side Leeds United, after a brief stint at Elland Road this spring. He has yet to score, sadly.
Pedro Botelho - LB/MF - Cartagena: currently playing at Segunda Division side Cartagena, Botelho, a Brazilian youth prospect, has yet to play for Arsenal, due to work permit issues.
It is unlikely that too many more players will go out on loan as long as Arsenal remain in the running for the League Cup and the FA Cup. For now, here's wishing all the best for the above five, who will look to improve their games while away from their home club.
