Arsenal World Cup open thread, Wednesday, June 23

So, no Arsenal players in action today, but here are the matches that we'll see:

At 10 AM EDT:

  • Slovenia vs. England: can the men with the mountains on their kits win and put England's hope in jeopardy?
  • USA vs. Algeria: can the men in green do the same to the USA?  Will the group see Algeria and Slovenia, unfavored teams to start, both get through a group that has seen them pull of some unexpected results?

At 2:30 PM EDT:

  • Ghana vs. Germany: Ghana currently lead group D, one point ahead of Germany, so a draw or a win sees them through.
  • Serbia vs. Australia: Serbia sit at 3 points, but lie in third due to goal difference.  If they can win, they could still win the group if Ghana and Germany draw.  If they win, they are through either way.  If Australia wins and Ghana wins, Australia and Ghana would be through, and we'd all tear up our brackets.
