Arsenal World Cup open thread, Tuesday, June 22

So the tournament now enters the phase with four games per day.  The early games at 10 AM EDT today are:

  • Mexico vs. Uruguay, hopefully featuring Carlos Vela for Mexico.  If these teams draw, both are through to the round of 16.
  • France vs. South Africa.  Bacary Sagna, Abou Diaby, and William Gallas (and maybe Gael Clichy?) are on the French team, which is more or less in crisis at this point.  Both teams need to win and need to get help to make it to the round of 16.
The matches for 2:30 PM EDT are:

  • Nigeria vs. South Korea.  Nigeria needs a win and a lot of goals plus a Greece loss to progress.  South Korea can progress with a draw and a Greece loss or draw, assuming Greece doesn't score more than two goals.
  • Argentina vs. Greece.  Argentina's through, basically, unless they lose by a ton and South Korea wins by a ton, in which case Greece and South Korea are through.
