The Daily Mirror, going off of what Italian "media group" Mediaset is publishing as fact, has now gone to press with a report that Fiorentina forward Stevan Jovetic's agent is currently in London hashing out the details behind an eventual move to Arsenal.
The 23-year old player has been with La Viola for four years after coming through the ranks of FK Partizan, and has established himself as one of the brightest and most deadly forwards in Europe. His ability to both score at will in front of the goal, as well as dropping behind and to the side of a central forward would easily fit in with an Arsene Wenger system. Further, if the Mirror's price of £24.5 million is to be believed, it would also represent Arsenal's new-found financial strength and past promises to deliver the sort of players many fans want to see with the extra funds at Wenger's disposal.
Consider this the first shot across the EPL's bow if this deal wraps up soon. While other competing clubs are going through transitions at the moment, Arsenal's move for Jovetic, done before the window opens on July 1st, should signal that the world should expect a very different offseason for the north London club. Feel free to start dancing now, if this is true.
