The Guardian is reporting that Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud will most likely miss the second leg of the Champions League playoff tie with Besiktas with what Arsene Wenger has termed a "stretched ankle", according to Arseblog News. In the short term, with Yaya Sanogo also battling an injury, this leaves the Gunners very short up front for the crucial fixture at the Emirates against the Turkish side, and in the long term it could force Wenger to make a move as the transfer market window starts to shut:
While it seems unlikely he would test Monaco’s resolve to retain Radamel Falcao, who would cost a loan fee of around £15m, Wenger could yet revive his interest in QPR’s Loïc Rémy....
With lots of rumors swirling that Lukas Podolski and his wage packet are headed out the door soon, it would leave Arsenal with basically only Alexis Sanchez as a healthy option up front for at least a little while. Fire up that Arsenal Striker Rumor Engine again, everyone!
