The reasonably-reliable John Cross at the Mirror is reporting that Real Madrid is offering Sami Khedira up for £12 million, because (1) he only has a year left on his contract and (2) he's not likely to renew with Los Blancos. As you've heard in recent days, Arsenal and Chelsea are the prime contenders. Allegedly, Manchester United is also in for Khedira according to some sources, but since Khedira isn't Dutch and United's brass have had whatever the opposite of the Midas touch is during this transfer window, a move to Old Trafford is less likely.
But that's not even the most Twitter-enflaming Arsenal transfer news out there today. According to the Daily Mail (and being passed around the Internets by delighted Internet folk), PSG striker Edinson Cavani (the one who's not Zlatan Ibrahimovic) could be headed to Arsenal, with Olivier Giroud and £32 million going the other way. With Zlatan indefinitely sidelined with a left oblique muscle tear, the presence of Giroud in a deal makes sense on paper (though might not make sense in a world where Yaya Sanogo and Joel Campbell are Arsenal's backup strikers).
This all seemingly hinges on news of Angel di Maria's impending move to either PSG (where he'd slot into the left wing position Cavani's been playing with decidedly more comfort) or Manchester United (where he'll either join Arturo Vidal, Xabi Alonso, and other fanciful rumored arrivals, or win a spot in the squad over the likes of Nani and* Ashley Young just by showing up and breathing). Our man Kike Marin is tweeting that di Maria is one of several Real Madrid players exiting in the annual game of Revamp Real Madrid's Roster For The Hell Of It.
There is one minor rumor to put to bed, though: Eduardo Vargas won't be coming over to Arsenal from Napoli -- instead, he's signed a season-long loan to be part of QPR's just-launched relegation battle.
* Yep, Nani's gone to Sporting Lisbon as part of the Rojo deal. Here are reactions.
