Arsenal have been rumored to be after Morgan Schneiderlin for a while, particularly since their pursuit of Sami Khedira foundered on his salary requests. Today's early news was that Schneiderlin wouldn't come cheap, and that turned a few people off the idea, but just like that one M. Night Shyamalan movie, there's a twist here:
I'm told Arsenal want Morgan Schneiderlin AND Callum Chambers from Southampton. Spurs have also made an enquiry for Jay Rodriguez

So, wow. Arsenal are shoving a big pile of chips in the middle of the table and saying "what you gonna do about it?". These are, of course, both just rumors at the moment, so please enjoy the grains of salt this news comes with, but it would appear that Arsenal are, in fact, not messing around when it comes to building a squad.
SALTY, GRAINY UPDATE:
Apparently Chambers has already turned his head and coughed for Arsenal's medical staff:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Arsenal are working on a deal to sign Southamton defender Calum Chambers. Fee agreed & medical took place on Friday <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/afc?src=hash">#afc</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/saintsfc?src=hash">#saintsfc</a></p>— David Ornstein (@bbcsport_david) <a href="https://twitter.com/bbcsport_david/statuses/492799855455375360">July 25, 2014</a></blockquote>

Again, nothing's official until the mothership says it is, but the BBC is a pretty reliable source.
I've asked before and I'll ask again: Anybody still want to contend that Arsene doesn't know what he's doing?
