So... I'll start with saying that we had a great turnout for Week 1, 19 people put in predictions which is great! On the flip side, I've never seen so many ties in a given week among players, which made ranking everybody an adventure in it's own. Only one person stood out on top alone though, and that was Harold Harpoon, who takes the Week 1 victory with a score of 14(1). There's so many ties for second that we don't even have a third place, we have a fifth place tie, a ninth place tie, etc.
I should probably mention that the standings go like a golf leader board, there is no multiple ties for second, third, etc., every tie takes out the next spot, so it jumps from a tie to second to a tie to fifth, and so on.
Also, the scoring. There's two numbers, the number on the left is the total points, while the number in parentheses is the amount of correct predictions in a given week or season. That number is solely used as a tiebreaker, but we usually offer accolades to the player who has the most correct predictions in a given week/season. The complete sum of predictions is the number that matters.
HoodRiverDuck, courtesy of his last minute change in the Fenerbahce match, also solely holds the lead for the newly named "Aaron Ramsey is Fucking Awesome" Cup Challenge, taking the only 3 points in that bonus match. Everybody else has 1 and 0 points respectively. I should also point out again(as to avoid confusion) that all bonus matches DO APPLY to the regular season standings still, the Cup Challenge thing is just something on the side to whoever scores the most points in bonus matches.
As for the playoff, well, it seems like it's a majority no, but I'm going to shelve the idea until February or March and ask again once everybody is spread out in the season, minds can always change, but for now, no playoff.
Week 1 Results:
1st: Harold Harpoon - 14(1) 2nd: A lot of people, at 13(2)
Season Top Three: See Above
Cup Challenge Leader: HoodRiverDuck - 3(1)
Clever Pick of the Week: I think it goes without saying, HoodRiverDuck's last minute change to Fenerbahce 0-3 Arsenal takes the cake.
Crisis Pick of the Week: Honestly, everybody scored so many points that it's hard to single one out, but I'll go with DJ Holm and rzor, who were the only ones not to score points on Chelsea 2-0 Hull City and Man. City 4-0 Newcastle, respectively. If your new, don't take this the wrong way, everybody gets a Crisis pick eventually.
