This was something that I had been wondering about for a while. I know there are a lot of Americans that don't support MLS but do support a European side. I was kind of curious about the reasons for this. Personally, while I have liked Arsenal for much longer (because neither MLS nor the Union existed when I watched MLS), I feel a very different type of kinship for a team that I can go to games for without taking a trans-Atlantic flight. However, before the Union joined MLS, I did watch, but didn't feel as strongly because none were my "hometown" side. I put hometown in quotations because I've lived in the Midwest for School for over eight years now, and technically I'm not from Philadelphia but a city close by.
I was wondering among other Americans here, did they watch/support an MLS team, and whether it makes a difference that they have a hometown side.
Also, I know this isn't strictly Arsenal related, but this is a community that has a large number of American supporters of a European side, so I thought it would be okay to ask. If this isn't alright, I apologize in advance.
