We haven't done a music post in a while, so let's do one today!

I haven't been to a show in several months, and all of a sudden there's a bunch of good ones coming up. I'm going to two on Friday, in fact - Mike Nesmith early, and Mudhoney late. I'm intrigued about the Nesmith show - I'm a huge Monkees fan (it's definitely in my top 10 favorite comedy TV shows of all time), but this is just Nesmith doing his, as he puts it, "weird country stuff", which I don't really know all that well. Should be fun, though.

And Mudhoney? Pretty much my second-favorite live band of the Seattle music scene era. They're amazing live, and their records are pretty awesome. They just put a new one out that I bought at lunch (at a record store! Ask your parents), I'm looking forward to listening to it tonight, and to the show.

And now, Prince, a word, if you will. I'm super-super-excited that you're touring small venues on the West Coast; the Showbox in Seattle is awesome, and the Roseland here in Portland is also pretty cool. Both have the chance to be pretty legendary shows. But...really? $175 for tickets to the Portland show? With $20 service charge on top of that? Really? $250 in Seattle? So, I won't be seeing Prince.

A couple questions this week, then. First, do you have any concerts coming up that you're excited about? And as a corollary - what's the best live show you've ever seen?

And if you're not a music person, what else would you like to talk about?
