Holiday travel season is almost upon us - it's November 11 today, so before long people's thoughts will turn to going over the river and through the woods, as it were. Thanksgiving is the busiest travel weekend of the year; most of my family is spread out around the west, so I'm no stranger to getting on a plane and going elsewhere for the holiday. This year, though, me and the lovely mrs. pdb are getting on a plane and avoiding everything - we're going to Hawaii on Thanksgiving day for 10 days of snorkeling and napping and drinking beers on the porch.
I love Thanksgiving more than any other holiday - there's no religious overtones, no gift-giving expectations, and it's all about making and eating good food and sharing it with family and friends. This year we're skipping all that, though, and I'm OK with it because Hawaii's awesome.
What about you - do you have any Thanksgiving travel plans? Are you a Thanksgiving fan? Are you a Black Friday person? This year, all that stuff's starting Thursday evening, which is really annoying, particularly for those who work retail who will now get hardly any Thanksgiving at all. I don't like to shop or to buy things, so I don't get that "WE GOTTA SHOP NOW AND GET THE GOOD BARGAINS EARLY" mentality, but what about you? Will you be in line for deals, or do you wait?
Anything else you want to talk about?
