Johan Djourou Moves to Djermany

Auf Wiedersehn, Johan. - Michael Regan

In a move that helps clear out the underbrush at Arsenal and also gets Djourou into a situation where he can play regularly, Johan Djourou has been loaned to Bundesliga side Hannover 96.

Following in the footsteps of Marouane Chamakh - and let's be honest, that's the first and probably only time you'll ever read that sentence - Johan Djourou has left Arsenal, moving to Bundesliga side Hannover 96 on a loan for the rest of the season. Hannover are currently 11th in the league, 20 points adrift of leaders Bayern Munich but only seven points off a Champions League place, so hopefully Djourou can step in, do a job for them, and help them get up the table and into the Champions League.

To say Djourou had fallen out of favor with Arsene Wenger is to understate things - he has only made two appearances this year, both in the Capital One Cup. The loan, as most loans do, comes with an option to buy should Hannover be happy with what they see; while Djourou didn't get up to much this season, he's a solid enough player, and I hope for his sake that things work out for him in Germany.

There's room on the bench now, Arsene. Go change that.
