So here we are, in 2013. I trust everyone survived their various New Years Eve celebrations? Ours involved going to our neighborhood bar for a couple hours after work, then going home and ordering pizza and watching TV. Pretty exciting stuff.
This is also the time of year when people make resolutions, and resolve to be a better/stronger/smaller/more diverse/whatever person in the coming year. I've never been much for resolutioning, really, but last year I resolved to lose 40 pounds; I didn't quite make it, so this year I'm resolving to lose the 15 pounds I have yet to lose. The nice thing about that particular resolution is it taught me better eating habits, so even though I missed my goal, I'm better off for having gone through the exercise and I'll meet my goal this year.
In order to meet that goal, I had to set up another goal - this March, I'm doing my first-ever 5K road run. I run on the treadmill at the gym, but I've never actually hit the road; I'm a little freaked out by the concept, but having a goal like that keeps me focused on the larger goal of weight loss and fitness, so it'll be good.
