Not Strictly Soccer Related: Life Changes

I've been a contractor (IT, not house-building) for 13 of my last 20 working years. I really like it, but one of the downsides is constantly changing jobs - the way contracting typically works is that you are brought in to do a specific project, you do that project, and then you either get another project or you move to another place. So it's kind of a treadmill, but the benefits of that treadmill (I don't get stale, I am always learning new stuff, I can come and go as I please, etc) are pretty swell.

My current gig, however...ugh. I've shared this before, but I literally do nothing all day - on a good day I'll have 10 minutes' worth of work, but that's about it. I've been looking around for another gig, and today I finally got one - and a full-time job at that! This is a pretty big shift for me, but I'm pretty excited about it - I like to be of use to people while I'm at work, and I haven't been even remotely useful here.

So today's question is a simple one - have you undergone any big life changes recently? If so, was it a change that you made happen, or one that just sorta happened to you? Are you happy post-change?

Also, beer! I'm not a fan of winter, but I love winter beers, and they're starting to be released here and there. Any favorite winter beers?
