Despite my love of winter beers, I really don't like winter. Fortunately, I live in the Pacific Northwest, so I don't have to deal with the really super-harsh winters I had when I lived in New England, or that people have in the Midwest, but still - Oregon set a record for the wettest March in 50 years, and more so than most years, I'm really damn sick of the rain. One of the other best things about Northwest springs and summers is how late it stays light - during the winter, it's dark around 5, but nowadays it doesn't get fully dark until about 7 and by the peak of summer it's still light at 9.30 or so, and I love those days and am glad they're starting to arrive.
Spring of course means the best thing ever - baseball season starts today! I know a lot of you don't care, but this is seriously the happiest week of sports for me. Baseball is the only sport I have a longer relationship with than soccer, and its return always makes me happy because I know I'll have something to watch all summer.
Spring also means hockey playoffs, which is a good thing - the playoff tournament seems like it takes waaaaay too long, but I love watching it because the hockey is more intense.
So yeah, no real topic guide this week, just a general sense of emerging from the vile cocoon that is winter. What's on your mind? There was some talk in another thread about FIFA and other video games, but I have no real way to talk about that because I haven't played video games regularly since the late 1980's. But don't let that stop you - anything goes in here (within the rules of course).
